Description
ROMAN EMPIRE - ROMAN Hadrian (117–138). Obol (AE19) LKB (Year 22 = 137–138), Alexandria. Obverse: AVT K(A)I A - VΓ - ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟC CEB. Laureate and draped bust facing left. Reverse: Bust of Harpocrates facing right, wearing the hemhem crown and holding a pomegranate. Surrounded by the (date). KG.32.772 v. – RPC.III.6258 v.; Bronze – 5.91 g – 19 mm – 12 h Acquired from Poinsignon in 2007. Of remarkable quality for this type, on a large flan, and clearly superior to the specimen in the *Roman Provincial Coinage*. Attractive brown patina. Superb.
