Euboea, Histiae. Tetrobolos ND (250–180 BC), Histiae.
Obverse: Head of the nymph Histiaia facing right, with a bun and bunches of grapes in her hair, and a pearl necklace.
Reverse: IΣTI - AIEΩN. The nymph Histiaia seated on the right on the stern of a galley adorned with a star and a stylis (supporting mast).
HGC 4, 1524; Silver – 2.19 g – 14 mm – 5 h
NGC CH XF 5/5 4/5 light scuff (2183766-016).
Beautifully struck and complete, on a fairly large blank. Attractive bust on the obverse and a delicate grey patina. Superb.
