Zeugitane, Carthage. Gold stater ND (c. 350–320 BC), Carthage.
Obverse: Head of Tanit-Persephone wearing a wreath of ears of corn, with earrings and a necklace on the left.
Reverse: Standing horse facing right, with three dots in front.
Jenkins-Lewis Group IIIg; Gold – 9.1 g – 18.5 mm - 2 h
NGC XF 5/5 2/5 ex-jewellery, edge filling. Marks (8235290-001).
The strike is slightly off-centre on both the obverse and reverse. Small blank defect on the reverse. A scratch on the obverse behind the head. Traces of mounting. High relief, with even wear. Beautiful golden colour. Very Fine to Superb.
