Description
GAUL - CELTIC Namnetes. Stater featuring a hippophoros, Class II with the ND cross (2nd–1st century BC). Obverse: Profile to the right, of Apollonian origin, from which four beaded cords emerge – two from the forehead and two from the nape of the neck – connected to small human heads. In front of the profile, a cross – one arm of which touches the forehead – cuts across the beaded cord on the right and a stem ending in loops in front of the chin. Reverse: An androcephalic horse on the right, driven by its charioteer raising a disproportionately large hand. Below, a hippophore figure facing forwards, head turned to the right. DT.2187-2189 – LT.6723; Electrum – 7.02 g – 22 mm – 9 h A fine scratch on the reverse, appearing slightly cleaned. Well centred with clear details. Almost Superb.
