GAUL - CELTIC Volques Tectosages. ‘Cubist head’ drachma, Series VII with two facing axes, ND (mid-2nd – first half of the 1st century BC). Obverse: Cubist head facing left, eye viewed from the front, prominent frontal protuberance, mouth depicted as two dots, with two dolphins in front. Reverse: A cross without a bulbous end forming four quarters with four crescent moons, decorated with an olive and an ellipse at 1 and 2 (or 2 and 1), and two facing axes at 3 and 4. Savès 35–36 – Hiriart 4.06 or 4.09; Silver – 3.00 g – 16 mm – 1 h Off-centre strike, with significant weakness at the bottom, making precise grading impossible. Original patina and light wear.
