Description
ALGERIA Third Republic (1870–1940). Medal, Biskra, Hamed and Barka designs by Pierre Lenoir, SAMF No. 64 1910, Paris. Obverse: HAMED. Half-length bust facing left. Below, the inscriptions ‘Magnificence belongs to God alone’; signed P. LENOIR. Reverse: BARKA. Half-length bust facing right. Below, the inscriptions ‘Power belongs to God’; signed P. LENOIR. Maier 58; Bronze – 73 g – 61 mm – 12 h From the collection of Nicolas Maier. On the edge, hallmarks (horn) BRONZE (lizard) and number 64. Distributed exclusively to members of the Société des Amis de la Médaille Française in 1920; the mintage is unknown (presumably 77 bronze copies). With a matt brown patina, barely stained. Superb, in mint condition.
