Description
ALGERIA Third Republic (1870–1940). Medal, Centenary of 1930, 1930 International Philatelic Exhibition of North Africa, Paris (Arthus-Bertrand). Obverse: ALGIERS 1930. The Cathedral of Algiers set amongst olive branches. Reverse: INTERNATIONAL PHILATELIC EXHIBITION OF NORTH AFRICA. In a fluted cartouche, the various means of transporting mail: ocean liner, aeroplane, locomotive, cyclist, camel driver moving to the left and a Post Office lorry. Esc.205 - Ruedas 304; Silver - 58 g - 40 mm - 12 h From the collection of Nicolas Maier. In silver with hallmarks (AB diamond) ARGENT and (bull’s head). On a matt blank, the fields are barely rubbed, and it has a lovely patina. Superb, mint condition.
