Obverse: LV - DOVICVS: DEI° GRA COM'° Z: DNS: FLANDR- IE. A lion facing left, wearing a lion-headed helmet, seated on a Gothic dais; below, FLANDRES.
Reverse: + BENEDICTVS: QVI: VENIT: IN: NOMINE: DOMINI. A leafed and fleur-de-lis cross, flanked by F, L, A, N with D in the centre, within a polylobed field.

A very rare ‘half-lion’ coin, with only 19,500 struck according to Delmonte (compared to 1,253,025 for the ‘lion’ coin)! The blank is barely visible, with slight wear on the high reliefs. Attractive golden patina. Superb.
