A fleur-de-lis cross flanked by four lilies, within an angular polylobe flanked by eight small lilies. Of remarkable quality for this very rare type, on a wide blank, with a slightly off-centre strike. Minimal weakness of strike on the front of the sheep. Beautiful golden patina. Superb. The large gold sheep, or double sheep of Brabant, was created in November 1366: it was intended to be worth two Brabant sheep coins, the fineness of which had been significantly compromised since they first went into circulation.
