Norodom I (1860–1904). 50-centime coin, struck in gold in 1860 [1899], Brussels (Würden) [later Phnom Penh].
Obverse: NORODOM I KING OF CAMBODIA. Bare head facing left, with the signature C. WURDEN and (date) below.
Reverse: Legend and coat of arms of Cambodia.

This is the second-highest grade!
NGC MS 66 (8769660-017).
Mint strike, with rusted dies. Only two examples known, according to J. Lecompte, p.207. Slight golden patina. Superb in Proof condition.
Coins struck in the name of Norodom were produced from 1875 onwards at Charles Würden’s mint in Brussels, and dated 1860. The dies were subsequently handed over to King Norodom, who had them used in the Phnom Penh mint until the dies wore out, notably in 1899. These coins were never put into circulation but were distributed by the sovereign during events
