Obverse: BANQUE DU CONGO BELGE / BANK VAN BELGISCH / CONGO / 1909 * 1934 in the exergue. An elephant advancing to the left; monogram signature ‘AB’. Reverse: A native woman in three-quarter profile facing left, holding a child she is breastfeeding. Behind her, a star. Signature ‘BONNETAIN FECIT’ in the exergue. Vancraenbroeck 141; Silver and bronze – 144.15 g and 127.67 g – 70 mm – 12 h In a red imitation leather case from J. Fonson Médailles d’art. On the edge: ‘J. FONSON A’ and ‘J. FONSON’. With beautiful patina. Superb, in mint condition.
