Description
EGYPT Fuad I (1917–1936). Vermeil medal, commemorating Fuad I’s visit to England in July 1927, by P. Metcalfe and C. L. Doman, 1927, London. Obverse: Inscription in Arabic script. Bust facing left in uniform, signed METCALFE. Reverse: OFFICIAL VISIT OF HIS MAJESTY FUAD I KING OF EGYPT TO BRITAIN JULY MCMXXVII. Above the cartouche bearing the inscription, side-by-side busts to the left of Egypt as Isis and of Great Britain as Britannia wearing a helmet; signed C. L. D. BHM 4211 – Eimer 2007; Vermeil – 169.8 g – 72 mm – 12 h NGC AU DETAILS RIM DAMAGE (6771815-001). In gilt silver or vermeil. A specimen showing slight wear with minor nicks on the scrolls and the edge. Commonly found in bronze, this medal is very rare in silver. TTB.
