FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Philip VI (1328–1350). Golden Angel, 3rd issue, Notre-Dame (1342). Obverse: xPHILIPPVSx D’ - GRAx FRAx REXx. The Archangel Saint Michael standing beneath a canopy forming the top of a polylobe cut off at the bottom, crowned, holding a long-shafted cross resting on the head of a dragon lying at his feet, and the shield of France with three lilies. Reverse: + XPCx VINCITx XPCx REGNATx XPCx IMPERAT. A quatrefoil cross, leafed and fleur-de-lis-adorned, within a fleur-de-lis-adorned quatrefoil flanked by four small crowns. Dy.255B - Fr.273; Gold - 5.78 g - 32.5 mm - 4 h With a handwritten collector’s label. PCGS AU58 (60810770). On a fairly wide, slightly oblong blank. The strike is barely clovered and somewhat faint on the left. With a golden patina. TTB.
