FRANCE / CAPETIANS – FRANCE / ROYAL John II the Good (1350–1364). Gold royal coin, 2nd issue, undated (1359). Obverse: IOH’ES: DEI: GRA – FRANCORV: REX. The King standing beneath a Gothic canopy, crowned, holding the sceptre. Rev. + XPC: VINCIT: XPC: REGNAT: XPC: IMPERAT. A fleur-de-lis and leafy cross, curved into a heart shape (with a fleur-de-lis), flanked by four lilies, within a polylobed field. Dy.293A - Fr.278; Gold - 3.5 g - 27 mm - 5 h Top Pop (11): this is the finest graded specimen! PCGS MS63 (56278337). A specimen that has seen virtually no circulation, retaining its original lustre beneath a light golden patina. Superb in mint condition.
