Obv. KAROLVSx DIx GR – FRANCORVx REX. The King, crowned, standing beneath a canopy flanked by lilies, wearing a coat of arms with fleurs-de-lis over his chainmail, holding a sword and the hand of Justice.
Reverse: + XPC* VINCIT* XPC* REGNAT* XPC* IMPERT. A trefoil cross with an angled quatrefoil at the centre, flanked by two fleurs-de-lis and two crowns, within an angled quatrefoil flanked by fleurs-de-lis.
Dy.360 – Fr.284; Gold – 3.78 g – 27 mm – 10 h
NGC MS 62 (8769664-003).
Variant with ‘IMPERT’ on the reverse. The die is slightly irregular. A rather fine strike. Superb.
