Charles VI (1380–1422). Gold shield with a crown, 4th issue of the ND series (after Nov. 1398–Oct. 1399), Sainte-Menehould.
Obverse: + KAROLVS (x/x) DEIx GRACIAx FRANCORVMx REX. Crowned shield of France.
Reverse: + XPC (x/*) VINCIT* XPC* REGNAT* XPC* INPERAT. A fleur-de-lis and leafy cross, with a star within a curvilinear heart-shaped lozenge, all within a quatrefoil flanked by four small crowns.

Featuring the trident-shaped ‘T’s’ for the Sainte-Menehould mint. Punctuation marked by two superimposed cross-shaped symbols after the first word on the obverse; a cross-shaped symbol on a star on the reverse after the first ‘XPC’. A round, dotted ‘O’ in ‘KAROLVS’. Beautifully styled, on a large blank. Slight golden patina. Superb in mint condition.
