FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Charles VI (1380–1422). Half-blanc, known as a ‘demi-guénar’, 8th issue of Notre-Dame (18 June 1419), Saint-Quentin. Obverse (crowned) KAROLVSo FRANCORVMo REX. Shield of France, with a solid dot between the two upper fleurs-de-lis. Reverse (crowned) SITo NOMEo DNIo BENEDICTV. Cross flanked by a fleur-de-lis in the second quarter and a coronet in the third; solid dot beneath the lower arm. Dy.378H – Dieudonné 1067 – Giard 14; billon – 1.39 g – 21 mm - 2 h An extremely rare issue featuring initial coronets, for the Saint-Quentin mint with 17th-century rings on both the obverse and reverse. The strike is slightly clover-shaped. Dark patina. Very Good to Very Good-Plus.
