Henry VI of England (1422–1453). Gold ‘Salut’ coin, 2nd issue, ND (1433–1444), leopard, Rouen.
Obverse (mint mark) HENRICVS: DEI: GRA: FRACORV: Z: AGLIE: REX. The Archangel Gabriel standing before the Virgin Mary, to whom he holds out a scroll bearing the word AVE, behind the joined coats of arms of France and England; above, the rays of the sun.
Reverse (mint mark) XPC’* VINCIT’* XPC’* REGNAT’* XPC’* IMPERAT’*. A plain Latin cross flanked by a fleur-de-lis and a leopard, beneath which is an uncial H, within a fleur-de-lis-patterned polylobe.

With a small dotted ring beneath the final letters of the inscriptions, the mark of master silversmith Étienne Marcel (1433–1444). A well-centred and finely detailed specimen, showing beautiful freshness beneath a light golden patina. Almost proof-like.
