FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XI (1461–1483). Gold shield with a crown, 1st issue ND (1461), Montpellier. Obverse (crowned shield) LVDOVICVS: DEI: GRA: FRANCOR: REX (variant). Crowned shield of France, flanked by two crowned lilies. Reverse (small crown): XPC: VINCIT: XPC: REGNAT: XPC: IMPERAT (variant). A leafed cross with a quatrefoil in the centre, flanked by four small crowns, within a quatrefoil. Dy.539 - G.38 - Fr.312; Gold - 3.45 g - 27 mm - 3 h Top Pop (2): this is the finest graded specimen! NGC MS 66 (8769668-009). For Master Aubert Sauvignac, featuring two superimposed small crosses at the ends of the legends. With a golden patina. Almost uncirculated.
