Obv. HENRICVS. II. D. G. FRAN. REX (variant). Bust of the King facing right, in armour, bareheaded.
Rev. (sun) DVM. TOTVM. COMPLEAT. ORBEM (date) (variant). Cross formed of four crowned H’s, flanked by two crescents and two lilies; (mint mark) in the centre.

Few examples are known for this year. Angers struck the gold Henri with a smooth breastplate until 1556, then with a damascened breastplate in 1557. Slight edge of the leaf and a small strike defect on the left. Beautiful golden patina. Superb.
