FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Charles IX (1560–1574). Liard of the Dauphiné, 1st issue 1568, world, Montélimar. Obverse (at 6 o’clock) CAR. IX. D. – G. FR. R (date). The Dauphin with a crown surmounted by a fleur-de-lis on the left; mint mark in the exergue. Reverse + SIT. [NOM. DNI. B]NI: (distinguishing mark). Fleur-de-lis cross. Dy.1092A – Sb.4304 – G.407; Billon – 0.69 g – 15.5 mm – 1 h From the Bastien Mikolajczak collection. On a quadrangular blank, the strike is offset on the reverse. The mint mark is faint, but the master’s mark and the date are clearly visible. Fewer than 10 examples known. Very good condition.
