Obverse (at 12 o’clock) CAROLVS. X. D. G. FRANCOR. REX (variant) (date). Crowned shield of France, beneath a sun; below (mint mark).
Reverse: + CHRISTVS. REGNAT. VINCIT. ET. IMPERAT. Fleur-de-lis cross (Charles IX type), with (mint mark) in a heart-shaped lozenge.
Dy.1174 (mint not stated) - G.527 (R5) - Sb.4946 = the only known example! - Kind/BnF missing - Fr.389 v.; Gold - 3.41 g - 24.5 mm - 4 h
Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! From the Pflieger collection, The Gallia Collection, Christie’s, 6 October 1987 lot 1986 (£605), with its original cardboard box and slipcase.

A fine nick at 7 o’clock on the obverse. The obverse is slightly oblong. Wear is even, beneath a delicate golden patina. A rare opportunity to acquire a very rare type and mint (a type missing from the BnF in Paris)! Superb.
