Charles X (1589–1594). Quarter-shield, cross with fleur-de-lis arms, viewed from the front, 1590, X, Amiens.
Obverse: + CAROLVS. X. D. G. FRANC. REX (date). Cross with fleur-de-lis arms, with a cruciform finial at the centre.
Reverse (at 6 o’clock) SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM (variant). Crowned Shield of France flanked by II – II; below, (mint mark); in the field (engraver’s mark).
Dy.1177 – G.521 (R4) – Sb.4670 (1 copy = BnF); Silver – 9.58 g – 30 mm – 6 o’clock

With two small dots around the shield, the engraver’s mark of Pierre Ier Darly and the eagle’s talon of master Jean Boistel. On a wide blank, the strike is centred with a few imperfections. Very rare. Almost Superb.
