FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Charles X (1589–1594). Eighth of a shield, cross with fleur-de-lis arms, viewed from the front, 1590, LA, Laon. Obv. + CAROLVS. X. D. G. FRANC. REX (date). Cross with fleur-de-lis arms, with a cruciform finial at the centre. Rev. SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM. Crowned coat of arms of France flanked by V – III; below, (mint mark). Dy.1178 – G.519 (R5) = this specimen! – Sb.4672 (possible existence) – *Cahiers Numismatiques* 223, March 2020, pp. 39–40 = this specimen!; Silver – 4.78 g – 25 mm – 12 h From the Bastien Mikolajczak collection. Struck using locally made, crudely crafted dies at this League mint, which minted on behalf of the (late) King of the League, Charles X. A unique specimen published in 2020 and listed in Gadoury 2022. With a grey patina. Very Good to Very Good-Plus.
