Description
FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Charles X (1589–1594). Double sol parisis 1590, LA, Laon. Obverse: + CAROLVS. X. D. G. F. REX. (date). Three lilies, two above one, beneath a crown; below (mint mark). Reverse: + SIT. NOMEN. D. BENEDICTVM. Cross with fleur-de-lis. Dy.1179 - G.518 (R5) - Sb.4480 (3 copies); Billon – 2.83 g – 22.5 mm – 6 o’clock From the Bastien Mikolajczak collection. Slight edge wear at 6 o’clock but the mint mark (LA) is visible. Fields scraped with a needle. Very rare, with only a few (three?) known examples (Marchéville 3003; BnF Paris). Old grey patina with golden highlights. Very good to very good-to-excellent condition.
