Fleur-de-lis cross, with a quatrefoil fleur in the centre. Rev. (at 12 o’clock) + SIT. NOMEN. DNI. - .BENEDICTVM (variant). Crowned Shield of France, flanked by II - II; in the exergue (mint mark). Dy.1332 - G.27 (R5) - RN 1990, pp.109–170 (4 examples recorded out of 14,063 struck); Silver – 9.61 g – 32 mm – 6 h With a wide blank and a fine strike, which has caused the blank to split slightly. This specimen has seen very little circulation. Barely worn. Very rare. Superb. The Grenoble mint under Louis XIII was the subject of a comprehensive study by Christian Charlet, in the *Revue Numismatique* of 1990, 32, pp. 109–170 and plates XVI–XVIII. Bearing the anchor of master Pierre Ferté as the initial mark on the obverse. The pine cone, repeated at the end of both the obverse and reverse, is the mark of the engraver Gaspard Baron, prior to September 1642 (he was then replaced by Simonet).
