FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XIII (1610–1643). Half-écu, 3rd type, 2nd Warin die, small bust 1643, A, Paris (pink). Obverse: LVDOVICVS. XIII. D. G. FR. ET. NAV. REX. Bust of the King facing right, laureate, draped and clad in ancient-style armour. Reverse (variant): SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM (date). Crowned coat of arms of France. Dy.1350 - G.50 (R4); Silver - 13.61 g - 32.8 mm - 6 h Top Pop: this is the finest graded specimen! NGC MS 61 (6143413-022). A rare variety featuring a smaller bust, with the laurel wreath not fitting within the legend. Minimal corrosion at the bottom. Slight flattening on this specimen, which has seen little circulation. With a very fine grey patina displaying bluish and golden highlights. Superb in mint condition.
