Obv. LVD. XIIII. D. G. (varying). FR. ET. NAV. REX. Childlike head of the King facing right, wearing a laurel wreath, with a lock of hair falling down onto the neck; below (date).
Rev. .CHRS. - .REGN. - .VINC. - .IMP. A cross formed of eight interlocking Ls, each arm crowned, with (mint mark) within a heart-shaped circle, flanked by four lilies radiating from the centre.

With the date altered from 1644 to 1653 and the ‘long wick’ effigy die. Lyon struck coins with the short flange until 1652, after which the long-flange type also appears, with or without a dot in the ‘C’, and with or without the modified date. Rare. Superb.
