FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XIV (1643–1715). Half-écu with a youthful bust, 1st hallmark 1662, E, Tours. Obverse (variant) LVD. XIIII. D. G. – FR. ET. NAV. REX (variant). Bust of the King facing right, with long hair, wearing a laurel wreath, draped and clad in ancient-style armour. Rev. SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. – BENEDICTVM. (date). Crowned coat of arms of France, with mint mark below. Dy.1484 – G.173; Silver – 32.5 mm – 6 h Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! PCGS MS62 (47581199). Minimal finishing marks on the edges. With a grey patina forming over the original lustre. Superb in Proof condition.
