Louis XIV (1643–1715). Louis with the eight Ls and insignia, reformed in 1702, S, Reims.
Obverse: LVD. XIIII. D. G (sun) – FR. ET. NAV. REX. Laurel-wreathed head of the King facing right, with short hair; (date) below.
Rev. CHRS – REGN – VINC – IMP (various). A cross formed of eight L’s joined back-to-back, each arm crowned, with (mint mark) in a heart-shaped circle, overlapping a hand of justice and a sceptre placed in a crosswise position.
