Louis XIV (1643–1715). Shield with eight Ls, 2nd type, mint-state 1709, 9, Rennes.
Obv. LVD. XIIII. D. G. – FR. ET. NAV. REX. Bust of the King facing right, clad in an ancient-style cuirass.
Rev. SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM (date). A cross formed of eight L’s joined back-to-back, each arm crowned, with three lilies arranged 2 and 1 within a heart-shaped circle, flanked by four lilies radiating from the centre.
