Description
FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XIV (1643–1715). Half-louis d’or with sun motif, 1711, CC, Besançon. Obverse (variant) LVD. XIIII. D. G. – FR. ET. NAV. REX. Head of the King facing right, wearing a large laurel-wreathed wig, with the date below. Rev. CHRS – REGN – VINC – IMP (variant). A cross formed of eight interlocking L’s, each arm crowned, with a sun in the centre, flanked by four lilies radiating from the centre. Dy.1450 - G.243 - Fr.445; Gold - 4.06 g - 21 mm - 6 h NGC AU DETAILS REV SCRATCHED (8772189-033). A scratch on the reverse. With slight, even circulation wear and the edges barely rubbed. Superb.
