Description
FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XV (1715–1774). Half-louis d’or with insignia, 1716, W, Lille. Obv. LVD. XV. D. G. FR. ET. NAV. REX (date). Nude, childlike bust of the King facing right. Rev. CHRS. REGN. VINC. IMP. Oval, crowned coat of arms of France, superimposed on the Hand of Justice and the sceptre crossed in a saltire, (mint mark) in the exergue. Dy.1629A - G.324 - Fr.449; Gold - 4.06 g - 21 mm - 6 h NGC AU DETAILS CLEANED (2183765-010). For Lille, this type is struck without the ‘différents’! A fine reformation, barely visible, on a demi-louis with a sun motif. The strike is slightly off-centre on the reverse. Slight golden patina. Very Good to Superb.
