FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XV (1715–1774). Louis d’or with two Ls, mint-struck 1721, A, Paris. Obv. LUD. XV. D. G. FR. ET. NAV. REX (variant). Nude, laureate bust of the King facing right; (date) and (variant) below. Rev. (variant) CHRISTUS REGNAT. - .VINCIT IMPERAT. Two interlocking Ls, beneath a crown, between three lilies arranged 2 and 1; (mint mark) in the exergue. Dy.1635 - G.337 - Fr.456; Gold - 9.74 g - 25.5 mm - 6 h This is the second-highest grade! NGC AU 58 (8769664-006). Only slight wear on the high reliefs and minimal signs of handling. Slight patina on the original lustre. Superb in mint condition.
