FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XV (1715–1774). Half-louis d’or with two Ls, mint-struck 1723, W, Lille. Obv. LUD. XV. D. G. FR. ET. NAV. REX (variant). Nude, laureate bust of the King facing right; (date) below. Rev. CHRISTVS. REGNAT. – VINCIT. IMPERAT. Two L’s back-to-back, beneath a crown, between three lilies arranged 2 and 1; (mint mark) in the exergue. Dy.1636 - G.327 - Fr.457; Gold - 4.85 g - 22 mm - 6 h NGC UNC DETAILS CLEANED (2183765-009). On a new blank. Slight pinching of the metal around the edge. Light, even wear, but the fields are brushed. Rare type. Very Good to Superb.
