Description
FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XV (1715–1774). Louis d’or with spectacles, 1733/2, T, Nantes. Obv. LUD. XV. D. G. FR. ET. NAV. REX. Bust of the King facing left, draped, bareheaded; below (mint mark). Rev. CHRS. REGN. VINC. IMPER (variant) (date). Slanted oval escutcheons of France and Navarre, beneath a crown; mint mark beneath the escutcheons. Dy.1640 - G.340 - Fr.461; Gold – 8.14 g – 24 mm – 6 h Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! NGC AU 58 (8772189-037). Date altered from 1733 to 1732. Only slight flattening on the reliefs and the barely tarnished fields retain some of their original lustre. Superb in mint condition.
