Louis XV (1715–1774). Half-escutcheon with olive branches, 1739, BB, Strasbourg.
Obv. LUD. XV. D. G. FR. ET. NAV. REX. Bust of the King facing left, bareheaded, wearing an embroidered jacket bearing the cross of the Order of the Holy Spirit, signature JCR on the shoulder seam.
Rev. SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTUM (date). Oval, crowned coat of arms of France, between two olive branches, with the mint mark below.

This specimen has a few finishing marks on the reverse but is otherwise virtually in mint condition, and is covered in a delicate grey collector’s patina with bluish highlights. Superb in mint condition.
