Description
FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XV (1715–1774). Fifth d’écu with olive branches, 1726, second half of the year, A, Paris. Obv. LUD. XV. D. G. FR. – ET. NAV. REX. Bust of the King facing left, bareheaded, wearing an embroidered waistcoat bearing the cross of the Order of the Holy Spirit, with the signature JCR on the shoulder seam; below (var. mint mark). Rev. SIT NOMEN DOMINI – BENEDICTUM (date). Oval, crowned Shield of France, between two olive branches, below (mint mark). Dy.1677 - G.298; Silver - 27 mm - 6 h Top Pop: this is the only graded example! NGC MS 63 (8769669-039). Minted in the second half of the year. Very slight traces of sheet rolling. Close to its mint condition with a delicate antique patina. Superb in mint condition.
