FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XV (1715–1774). Double gold louis with headband, 1759, BB, Strasbourg. Obv. LUD. XV. D. G. FR. – ET NAV. REX. Head of the King facing left, encircled by a band, with a mark below (variant). Rev. CHRS. REGN. VINC. IMPE (variant) (date). Slanted oval escutcheons of France and Navarre, beneath a crown, with mint mark below. Dy.1642 - G.346 - Fr.463; Gold - 16.26 g - 28.5 mm - 6 h Top Pop (2): this is the finest graded specimen! From an MDC 16 auction, lot no. 1397. PCGS AU58 (50535919). A scratch on the obverse. Slightly weak strike in the centre with a slight flat spot from wear. Beautiful golden patina. Superb.
