Louis XV (1715–1774). Medal, congratulatory message from the city of Arras on the occasion of the King’s coronation in Reims [unsigned], 1722, Paris.
Obverse: VIVAT IN ÆTERNUM REX LUDOVICUS / CIVITAS ATREBATENSIS. On a fluted cartouche, the coat of arms of the Bishopric of Arras [azure, a fess argent accompanied by three rats sable; in chief a mitre; in base two croziers crossed].
Reverse: The crowned king, in coronation robes, seated on his throne holding a sceptre and the sceptre of justice. In the exergue, in three lines: IN REGEM FRANCORUM UNCTUS / REMIS XXV.OCTOBRIS. / M.DCC.XXII.

Only slight wear on the high reliefs and minimal scratches in the fields. With an antique patina. Very rare in silver. Superb.
