FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XVI (1774–1792). Bareheaded gold Louis, 1787, 2nd half-year, I, Limoges. Obv. LUD. XVI. D. G. FR. - ET NAV. REX. Bareheaded head of the King facing left. Signature DUVIV on the nape of the neck; (variant) below. Rev. CHRS. REGN. VINC. IMPER (variant) (date). Joined coats of arms of France and Navarre, beneath a crown; below, (mint mark). Dy.1707 - G.361 - Fr.475; Gold – 7.63 g – 24 mm – 6 h Top Pop (7): this is the finest graded specimen! PCGS MS62 (56278556). Only the slightest traces of rolling and minimal finishing marks; the strike is barely off-centre. Retains its original freshness beneath a delicate golden patina. Superb in mint condition.
