FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XVI (1774–1792). Half-écu with olive branches, 1783, H, La Rochelle. Obverse: LUD. XVI. D. G. FR. – ET NAV. REX. Bust of the King facing left, wearing an embroidered jacket, with the Order of the Holy Spirit, his hair tied at the nape of the neck with a ribbon. Signature B. DUVIV. F. on the edge of the bust; below (variant). Rev. SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI – BENEDICTUM (variant) (date). Oval, crowned Shield of France, between two olive branches, (mint mark) below. Dy.1709 - G.355 - Clairand 35101; Silver - 14.63 g - 32 mm - 6 o’clock PCGS Genuine - Environmental Damage-AU Detail (56290912). Only 724 examples struck, according to Clairand. Small metal scratch at 10 o’clock on the obverse. Light wear with a dark patina on the obverse and a slightly iridescent finish on the reverse.
