Constitution (1791–1792). Half-écu of 3 FRENCH livres, 1792, 2nd half of the year – Year 4, BB, Strasbourg.
Obverse: LOUIS XVI KING – OF THE FRENCH. The King’s head facing left, his hair tied with a ribbon at the nape of his neck. Below: (variant) (date).
Reverse: REIGN OF LAW. The Genius of France engraving the word CONSTITUTION (in two lines) on a tablet of the law resting on an altar, flanked by the (variant) and a fasces on the left, and a cockerel and (mint mark) on the right. Signature DUPRÉ in intaglio on the base of the altar. In the exergue: L’AN (date) DE LA LIBERTÉ in two lines.

A very rare type that almost never appears at auction. A few finishing marks on the reverse. The fields have been previously rubbed, particularly on the obverse. With a slight grey patina forming. Very Fine to Superb.
