Obverse: +* FRANCISCVS* DEI* GRA* BRITONVM* DVX* (mint)*. The Duke on horseback, galloping to the right, sword raised, clad in armour, wearing a helmet surmounted by the ducal crown, and shielding himself with a shield bearing three ermine spots arranged 2 and 1; the horse’s caparison is strewn with ermine spots.
Reverse: +* DEVS* IN* ADIVTORIVM* MEVM* IN* TANDE* (mint mark)*. A trefoil cross, with a quatrefoil at the centre, flanked by four ermine spots, within an angled quatrefoil.
