Obverse: + FRANCISCVS* DEI* GRACIA - BRITONV DX. The Duke on horseback, galloping to the right, sword raised, clad in armour, wearing a helmet surmounted by the ducal crown, and shielded by a shield bearing three ermine spots arranged 2 and 1; the horse’s caparison is strewn with ermine spots.
Reverse: +* DEVS* IN* ADIVTORIV* MEVM* IN* TANDE* (mint)*. A trefoil cross, with a quatrefoil at the centre, flanked by four ermine spots, within an angled quatrefoil.

The horse’s hind legs cut across the legend: attributed to François II. With BRITONV and ADIVTORIV. The strike is centred, with a centring circle around the rider on the obverse. Beautiful golden patina. Superb.
