Comtat Venaissin, Urban VIII (1623–1644). Quadruple gold escutcheon, featuring Antoine Barberini, legate in 1642, Avignon.
Obverse: VRBANVS. VIII. PONT. MAX. (date). Bust of the Supreme Pontiff facing right; below, a small shield bearing the Sforza coat of arms and (differing).
Reverse: *. ANTONIVS. CARD. BARBERINVS. LEGAT. AVEN. A three-lobed shield bearing the legate’s coat of arms, superimposed on a Maltese cross, beneath a cardinal’s hat (galero with six tassels).

Featuring a bee as a countermark beneath the bust. On a rather short flan, the strike is slightly off-centre on the reverse. Showing slight, even wear beneath a golden patina. Superb.
