Obv. (at 12 o’clock) * CAROLVS. V. - IMPERATOR. Obverse: Laureate and draped bust of Charles V facing right.
Reverse (at 12 o’clock) * MON. AVR. CIVIT. IMP. BISVNTINÆ. (date). A crowned double-headed eagle with outstretched wings, with the coat of arms of Besançon in the centre.

Beautifully struck with minimal signs of circulation, the fields barely tarnished, and the original lustre still present in the inscriptions. Superb in proof condition.
The demi-pistole was minted following an ordinance of 9 August 1652, with minting continuing until 1662, but only the 1652, 1653 and 1654 issues have been found
