Alsace, Leopold V (1619–1632). Half-thaler of Our Lady (1626), Ensisheim.
Obv. LEOPOLDVS. D. G. ARCH: DVX. AVS. TR:. Bust of the Landgrave in armour, wearing the Archducal crown, holding a sceptre in his left hand and the pommel of a sword in his right hand.
Reverse: DVX. BVRGVNDI. COMES TIROLIS. Ornate coat of arms beneath the archducal crown.

PCGS Genuine scratch-XF Detail (50536342).
Two nicks on the edge at 1 o’clock. Fine scratch on the bust. On a fairly large flan with even wear and a lovely grey patina. Extremely rare, with one example recorded in the Meyer collection. TTB to Superb.
In 1625, Leopold became Count of Tyrol following the death of his brother Charles. The first coins struck at Ensisheim in 1626 in Leopold’s name retain this title of Count of Tyrol but omit his title of Governor of Alsace
