Obverse: LOUIS XVI KING OF THE FRENCH. Bust of the King facing left, bareheaded, hair tied with a ribbon at the nape of the neck, wearing a cloak fastened over the shoulder with a fibula. Below (variant) (date) (mint).
Reverse: THE NATION, THE LAW, THE KING (variant). A fasces surmounted by a Phrygian cap and flanked by two ‘S’s, between two oak branches. In the exergue: THE YEAR (date) OF LIBERTY.
