Description
FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Constitution (1791–1792). Single-sided reverse die by Monneron depicting the King’s oath, by Dupré, Year III (1791). Obverse: Single-sided. Reverse: * Jes. Gme. THOURET PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY. NATIONAL CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY OF THE FRENCH. In the centre, an inscription in eight lines: THE WILL/ OF THE PEOPLE IS/ NO LONGER IN DOUBT/ FOR ME / I ACCEPT THE/ CONSTITUTION./ YEAR III OF/ LIBERTY. Maz. – (see 247, different reverse); Pewter – 6.84 g – 35 mm – 12 h Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! PCGS MS63 (58336873). Similar to the Monneron (Maz.244) but with a slightly different reverse. With a grey patina. Appears to be very rare. Superb in mint condition.
